Approximate Distance: 3.5 miles A most enjoyable walk in the Stour Valley, It is easy going across farm land, along the banks of the Stour and through woods. Leave the Angel Inn, Longham (near Ferndown) and go straight across the road into Angel Lane turning left when you meet the gravel track. Walk past the house and field and turn right. As you approach the barn
continue ahead along the path to the wooden crossing point then through the metal gate
opposite into the field and turn left. Keeping close to the hedge walk round to the wooden bridge, cross into
the field and turn left. Follow path beside the stream, into the trees and out into Ham
Lane. Carefully cross over onto the track opposite walking down until you reach the stile
in the hedge on the left. Go over into the field and follow the well trodden path to the
gate opposite and then across the stile. OUTDOOR ADVENTURE, |
Upon reaching the road cross over and turn left. Keep walking past a number of houses until you reach a stile beside a large oak tree. Follow the path up into the woods and bear left looking for the yellow markers. Try and keep to the main path ignoring others then bear left at the top. Keep straight ahead past some larger trees until the path bears right and enters a clearing, then turn left and walk beside the trees, round until you reach an opening into the woods. Follow the twisting path through the trees, past a field on the right and through a gate onto a gravel track. Turn right then right again at the main road back to the Angel Inn. |
